 Checkout Policies

  • Books may be checked out for a week at a time. After one week, the book may be renewed for an extra week. Therefore, a book may be kept for two weeks or longer if needed.
  • Students will be allowed to checkout books during their regularly scheduled library class and also before and after school. Students will also be welcome to checkout books whenever there is no classroom instruction taking place in the library. The days that the library will be open all day are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
  • Students in Kindergarten may checkout one book at a time (starting in the Spring), First and second grades will be allowed to checkout one book at a time. Students in grades 3-5 may checkout three books total. Keep in mind that books on tape count as THREE checkouts (the book is one, cassette tapes are one, and the tape player is one).
  • Books on tape checkouts are allowed schoolwide (3rd-5th grades). All books on tape must be kept together with the tape players, cassette tapes, and books. Students will be held responsible for missing items including the bags in which the sets are kept.
  • Students will not be charged a late fee for overdues. However, if the book becomes overdue the student will not be able to checkout any other materials until the overdue item is returned.
  • Students will be held responsible for any item that becomes damaged or lost. Replacement cost of the missing/damaged items will be expected before the student may checkout other items.
